via OPSL Orca Project Sri Lanka: Hi everyone! OM001 and OK008 dropped by the beautiful blue waters of Mirissa this morning. As you all know by now, these guys are the most re-sighted individuals in the OPSL catalogue, and this is their 10th visit to the island. We want to thank Whale Watching with Geeth for their ongoing support of the project and alerting us to this sighting. A special thanks also to Michaela Hanusova for sharing these wonderful images for you all to enjoy. One Green Planet have republished Sam's blog 'A personal reflection on encounters with orcas'

The blog features photos by Sam of New Zealand orca (©Orca Research Trust) and Southern resident orca (© Orca Aware). http://uk.whales.org/blog/roblott/2014/04/personal-reflection-on-time-with-orcas Photo: (c) Sam Lipman / Orca Aware The Chair of the Assembly Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee, Assembly Member Anthony Rendon, believes that orca captivity is fundamentally and ethically wrong. He supports the California orca bill AB-2140 and recommends a yes. An interim study has been agreed upon.
Orca Morgan's new verdict date has been set for Wednesday 14th May:
via Free Morgan Foundation: VERDICT DATE ANNOUNCED as 14 May 2014 Finally, we have received confirmation that Morgan’s verdict date has been delayed until the 14th of May 2014. We continue to gather evidence against Loro Parque and the way they are not addressing the welfare issues we have repeatedly raised. Please expose Morgan’s plight in your local media – the more stories out there about this travesty the more chances people have to learn about what has happened and to voice their own opinions. |
