Orcas in Iceland were observed today preying on white-beaked dolphins. Visit Láki Tours for more info + photos:
"15/07/2014: An incredible day out on the water! At first we came across a group of 7 white-beaked dolphins that we followed for a while. Then we spotted two Minke whales and had a closer look at them. But that’s not all – the killer whales are back! We spotted a group of about 10 orcas very close to the area where we had seen the other two species before. What happened then took our breath away. We saw them heading towards another group of white-beaked dolphins. Then they suddenly started porpoising very fast and … made a kill! One of the females dragged what we think was a juvenile white-beaked dolphin in her mouth! There was a lot of blood spilled on the surface and a few tail slaps going on. We are still stunned from this eventful day and need to recover from the excitement of all this happening right next to us!!
